Symptoms: Cannot speak, cough, or breathe. Clutching at the throat.

What to do: Give 5 firm back blows between the shoulder blades. If that does not work, give 5 abdominal thrusts (Heimlich maneuver). Repeat until the object clears or help arrives. Call 0800 220 0223 if it does not resolve quickly.

Symptoms: Red, blistered, or damaged skin from heat, chemicals, or electricity.
